I still love this song after all these years, not lot has changed. The press/media build up things to sell papers or to gain more viewers, not caring about the truth as it doesn’t sell their product. They will paint a person a devil or a saint, it’s all Hype.
Verse One
You read the papers, you read our name.
You see the headlines, you see the fame.
You build us up to tear us down,
you spread the hype that goes around.
We worked hard and broke some rules,
what we learned was not at school.
You say we’re evil a disease,
we do what the hell we please.
Chorus
What we do is in the news,
what’s it got to do with you?
It’s all hype!
Verse Two
I’m no devil and I’m no saint!
I’m just a man, I’ll say again!
Hype’s their trade, it always pays!
Don’t be fooled, don’t get enraged.
They dig for dirt to fill their page.
If you believe, then be ashamed.
You don’t own us we fill your need.
We give you music, we set you free.
Chorus
What we do is in the news,
what’s it got to do with you?
It’s all hype!
