I wrote this song whilst I was in college, I remember that there was a lovely big grand piano there. I would sit there for a couple hours a week. The acoustics there were amazing. If that wasn’t available, there were other small rooms with less impressive piano’s . At college I was studying Foundation Music Theory and I met some amazing people studying music. The North East at that time didn’t provide any opportunity for me to thrive and all I could think about was escape . Something that I still dream of.

This song was one f the first songs that I recorded, down in a little eight track recording studio in Bridlington., North Yorkshire. As you can hear this has a very different feel to it.

That recording was very much a reflection of the music scene at that time, and a totally different feel to how I originally imagined. The recording was born out of practicing at our local pub, carrying the heavy amps that we had was an event in itself, especially as me and the guitarist didn’t drive at the time.

This new recording, takes the song back to its roots and hints at the orchestral feel that I got from listening to Queen, I so miss them. There was so much good music at that time, I think that at that time you had to be able to spend time learning to play, understand how you fit with a band or just to be able to just sit with a guitar and perform.

As I said, this song is about escaping, a message that keeps repeating in my soul.

Another day, slippin’ away, oh what a waste of time
Feelin’ out, decay all around, I’m wastin’ here
Doesn’t matter what they say, the vultures are here
And I only know that I must survive

It’s time I was moving on
I feel it’s time that I should be gone
It’s time to face the rising sun
It’s time to face the dawn

I got my life to make, why waste it here. I gotta use all that I’ve got
There’s nothing here but bitter memories
Broken dreams and promises, prospects ain’t so good
For a young man with places to go

It’s time I was moving on
I feel it’s time that I should be gone
It’s time to face the rising sun
It’s time to face the dawn

Blank faces all around, laugh behind my back
They don’t understand, can’t comprehend the feeling
You gotta reach the rainbow’s end to get that part of gold
It’s the way it goes, you gotta keep trying

It’s time I was moving on
I feel it’s time that I should be gone
It’s time to face the rising sun
It’s time to face the dawn

It’s time I was moving on
I feel it’s time that I should be gone
It’s time to face the rising sun
It’s time to face the dawn
It’s time to face the dawn
It’s time to face the dawn
It’s time to face the dawn
